quietly breathing for bass clarinet and real-time electronics. 2012
Commissioned and premiered by Ingólfur Vilhjálmsson, Nordic Music Days Iceland
Quietly Breathing uses electronics to expand the sonic and performance possibilities of the bass clarinet. The presence of the electronics allows for the quiet breathing and fragile tapping sounds of the clarinet to be amplified, extended, and blended into each other, along with blended into some found sonic materials. The slow pacing and evolution of materials allows for listeners to hear these relationships and experience the richness that can be found within the seemingly quiet breathy materials.
